Is it a Handbag or a Messenger Satchel??
A while back I decided to making a project to raise some capital for a heavy duty sewing machine. Yes, I do like hand sewing many of my projects, but there are some that would benefit from using a sewing machine, especially to reduce cost from labour time.
Once I settled on what I wanted to make, which was a tooled handbag. The tooling design took a little longer to decide on, but eventually it was a Sugarskull design. The bag design began with a reasonably sized purse, I wanted it to be comfortable to grab it out without having to "dump things out". The width and height was largely dictated by the image, in the end the ouside dimensions of the bag are; 300mm wide 285mm high and 85mm depth.
