Commissioned Projects

This is where you will find the projects I have been commissioned to make.

Brutus aka Hail Hitter

Some time back I was commissioned to make a monster of a flogger, which is the largest and heftiest flogger I have made and was the inspiration to Hail Hitter Jr.

The falls are a bit over 800mm long, with the lashes being nearly an inch wide and the custom turned handle is long enough for two hands. In reality you need to use both hands or you could strain your wrist swinging it.

Like I said it is a monster, its heavy, its Very thuddy and its is also quite stingy at the same time.

Recently I was asked to recondition the leather, which gave me a chance to get some new photos of it.

There was a security guard

Early 2019 I was contacted by someone who works as a security guard and was looking to get a leather belt pouch made for some of their equipment. This particular belt pouch is the second project that they commissioned, this one is for their Leatherman multitool and torch. Unlike the first project, they chose not to have tooling done on it. A D-ring was installed so that keys could be clipped on with a small carabiner, and a copper rivet was used to fasten it to the pouch.

Back off nickel, titanium time!

When one wants to refine a current design for the better. This was the brief from one client who supplied the titanium buckle and chicago scews to make the collar up. In the favourite signature colour: black.

Along with using titanium parts, there was a linning layer of sheepskin leather, for better comfort as this is worn almost all day. The choice of titanium was to eliminate nickel which was reacting with their skin.

Once broken, now fixed

This opal was previously used on a necklace until it split in the weakest spot. Given the owner wanted to salvage this rare and wide opal, they wanted it fixed onto a piece of leather. We were able to do this in such a manner it hid the break point and it's still a wearable piece for many years to come. Leather was dyed in a style to mimic the opal lustre.

A gift for his father

Some while back a fellow uni student asked me to make a guitar strap for his father, this included custom text tooled on it. This was his nickname and the name of the band his band.

Surprise new case for her TLR camera

A friend of a friend commissioned me to make a case for his girlfriends' TLR camera as a surprise for her. It was a little bit of a challenge to create a wooden model of the camera so that I could do the wet molding for the lens cover. But like any challenge, this project taught me a few things.

Hail Hitter Jr

A little while back I was commissioned to make an absolute brutal monster of a flogger, which got dubbed "Hail Hitter". Images of this inspired another commission, but this one is not quite so long, coming in at 600mm long for the falls (lashes), where the original is about 800mm long (and almost brushed the floor in a relaxed grip). Hence this new monster has so far been dubbed "Hail Hitter Jr", it may not be as big as its predecessor, but it will certainly appease those desires for impact play. It will definitely say "ON YOUR KNEES!!" to just about anyone on the receiving end.

The handle is made from Ironbark, which turns quite nicely on the lathe and has been stained with a purple dye, then treated with tung oil and beeswax. I went with a "quirky" shape for the handle, because the owner is a "quirky" personality.

Fuzzy inside, Spikey outside

Sometimes a customer knows exactly what they are looking for with a custom piece, sometimes the idea needs to be worked on. The idea for this collar needed a little massaging to eventually be even more than what they had initially envisioned. The idea was to have some spikes, a D-ring for a leash and a little D-ring for a name tag, they also wanted it to have some sort of padding on the inside of the collar.

Custom Dragontail Whip

After seeing many people handling a Dragontail whip, using them willfully and not realizing just how much damage they can cause. I decided not to make them as a stock item, but as a custom request. Dragontail Whips are "Finishing Toys" and require a lot of respect.

This Dragontail Whip was a made with a custom handle that I turned for this project.

Blue Belt

It can be hard for a person with a large waist to find a good leather belt, especially one that is not black, this custom order belt turned out a nice colour of blue, with enough length to also be used like a bandolier for carrying camera gear.
